Custom Coffee Table Books

We have been making Coffee Table books here in the studio for the past year. The quality has been getting better and better, and now we are offering deluxe coffee table books of about 100 pages, containing almost all of the images from your wedding or portrait session, printed full bleed with archival inks and papers.

All of our weddings currently get a Proof Coffe Table Book containing all of the proofs. Our new Deluxe Books are so good they can replace a standard album.

This is the perfect album for those looking for a unique display of their images that can sit out on a table as a work of art.

They can be covered with a designer dust jacket or done in a variety of book cloth covers. Below is a recent example book from a Fall wedding. The pages contain from 1 to 6 images and are custom designed and printed in the studio. We can also span two pages with a single panoramic image. The photos below will give you an idea of how they look.

Vietnamese Wedding

Last night's wedding included a traditional Vietnamese wedding ceremony and reception as well as a Catholic ceremony. The Bride had several outfit changes which kept me busy!

Infrared maternity portrait

Maternity portraits can be a once in a lifetime opportunity with a very small window for success. We offer 8-9 month sessions which include pregnancy/belly shots as well as you and your partner shots. We can also document your pregnancy showing the progression of your belly over the months. Of course the next step would be newborn images. This image is an infrared pregnancy portrait from this mornigns shoot.

Infrared photos

A great special effect for art and wedding photography is infrared. This type of camera sees light that our eyes can't and produces stunning BW photos like the one here. It can make a nice addition to a wedding album or portrait session.

Unusual focus

I have a lens that is made out of old camera parts and a piece of vacuum cleaner hose. It allows me to change the focus plane like in the first image below. It works great for interesting portraits as well. After fooling around with this lens I made some composite images like the second and third images.

David Hill Winery and SUN!

This was my first time out at David Hill Winery. The scenery is amazing, but even more amazing was that we had sun for 4 hours while Portland had rain. Forest Grove was the place to be on Saturday. This intimate wedding had 4 hours of beautiful fall weather. Enjoy the scenery...

Nickie and Joe

This Saturday I shot Nickie and Joe's wedding at The Courtyard Marriott up on the Columbia in Portland. This Marriott allows you to have a wedding and reception outdoors and all in a beautifully courtyard that has a gazebo and views of mountains and boats on the Columbia. I was impressed with how easy going this locations was. Below are some shots from Sat.

Timberline Lodge (venue spotlight)

There is no better destination wedding spot close to Portland. I do have to admit I am biased because Erica and I were married up at the Lodge.

What fun it is to bring out of town guests up to the lodge and show them why you love living here. Most of the weddings happen in the Summer, but I have done some great cozy winter weddings too. You can even get hitched at Silcox Hut where you have to get driven up in a Snow Cat.

Remember old home movies of you as a kid? You also see it on MTV. It's 8mm movies. And we can now shoot it at your wedding!

We have been shooting 8mm film at weddings for an instant nostalgic look to your wedding video. See a quick example movie clip from a Wedding at Bridal Veil Lakes by clicking here.

The movie will load if you have windows media player installed. It is about 8 MB so it shouldn't take too long to load on a fastish connection.

Engagement sessions at the waterfront

I have really been enjoying shooting engagement shoots at onthe East Side esplanade. We offer engagement shoots for free to all of our brides and grooms because we feel that getting to know them really helps on the wedding day. It really relaxes our couples to have a feel for how we are going to handle the photography on their wedding day.

The Esplinade offers grasses, parklike settings, water views, and city views. There aren't many locations that have such a variety of Portland backdrops. Here are a couple more images from yesterday.

Documentary Portrait Sessions

I had the opportunity this summer to do a documentary photo session for a family of 6 at the Oregon Coast. We spent about 8 hours shooting all the fun things they like to do in the area and we are putting together our fine art books for each of the Children. If you haven't seen one of our books click on the link to see an example. I have never gotten so many great portraits in one session (I took over 2000 images!) This Saturday we were at the Abernethy Center in Oregon City. Cindy and gabe were married outdoors in the Veiled garden, and had their reception in the ballroom. The weather is still holding out. We are hoping for the same next Sat when we will be at The Courtyard Mariott on the Columbia River.

We love working video and stills together because we blend the video and stills together into the DVD.
